Current registration status confirms the new exhibition dates of spoga+gafa

Koelnmesse | Koelnmesse

The long-term rescheduling of the exhibition dates of spoga+gafa to June, including the one-time date at the end of May to the beginning of June in 2021, is already a total success. The current rebooking figures corroborate this. In spite of the worldwide challenges, just under nine months prior to the next spoga+gafa, with a booking status of over 90% the applications are at a pre-Corona level and indeed in most exhibition halls this level has been exceeded.

The current exhibitor status is a clear signal: The long-term rescheduling offers the exhibitors new cross-industry opportunities for their business because it is more in line with the industry’s changed ordering behaviour. Not only existing exhibitors registered with in some cases significant expansion requests, but a pleasing number of companies that didn’t take part in the past years have also registered to participate. This applies among others for the BBQ and decoration sectors, for Hall 6 with its technology and equipment customers as well as for the furniture section.

The motto of the leading global trade fair of the garden lifestyle industries is once again in 2021 “Sustainable Gardens” because according to current surveys, the consumers’ interest in sustainable products and smart solutions will increase further over the coming years.

“The current registration status is a fantastic signal for the industries’ trust in spoga+gafa and proves that physical networking formats are irreplaceable for the generation of sustainable business success,” explained Stefan Lohrberg, Director of spoga+gafa. “Under the hashtag #gardenbackstronger, together with the industry we are underlining the will to allow a successful trade fair to take place in 2021. We are enhancing the strength of a physical event with fresh, digital formats in order to support the customers even more readily with added value in the run-up to, during and after the trade fair.”
In good hands in Cologne: www.spogagafa.de/besafe

The essential element of a trade fair is the personal contact: In order to make networking as safe and successful as possible also in times of Corona, Koelnmesse has developed a host of measures in accordance with the provisions of the corona protection ordinance of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and in close coordination with the authorities in Cologne. These measures work together seamlessly and regulate interaction at the trade fair. Our goal is to ensure the highest degree of professional safety and to create an environment in which the business of the exhibitors can grow again.

Keeping an eye on the current situation, Koelnmesse is looking forward to a successful spoga+gafa, which is taking place in just under nine months’ time.

Koelnmesse – Global Competence in Furniture, Interiors and Design: Koelnmesse is the world’s top trade fair organiser for the areas of furnishing, living and lifestyle. analytica 2020: World’s leading trade fair to be held virtually

analytica virtual to take the place of the presence fair in Munich

This year, Messe München is hosting the world’s leading trade fair for laboratory technology, analysis and biotechnology as a virtual event. The new format analytica virtual will enable exhibitors to book digital trade fair booths for October 19 to 23. Furthermore, it offers all customers additional opportunities for exchange and networking. Large parts of the lecture and supporting program will also be available in digital form.

In coordination with the analytica advisory board, in March 2020 the decision was made to postpone the trade fair from April 2020 to October 2020. As late as July, exhibitor interest in a presence fair was very high, even though the hoped-for relaxation of travel restrictions from non-European countries failed to materialize. Visitor promotion was then focused on the European market again. “Unfortunately, particularly in Europe a development has begun in the weeks of August that affects exhibitor and visitor markets directly,” says Dr. Reinhard Pfeiffer, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Messe München. “News came from important European analytica core markets that trade fair visits would not be able to take place. A presence fair in October would therefore have fallen far short of the requirements of the participants with regard to the internationality of analytica, disappointed the expectations of visitors and exhibitors even in Corona times, and damaged the core of the event. A digital platform is now the alternative, which many exhibitors have also advocated.”

New travel restrictions for European countries in August

In addition to travel bans that companies are currently imposing on their employees and the restrictions on travel to Germany that states have introduced, in August the Federal Republic of Germany also made it more difficult to enter Germany from some states. These include regions in France (such as the area around Paris), Belgium (Antwerp, Brussels) and Spain (the entire mainland and Balearic Islands), which are among the most important exhibitor and visitor countries at analytica.

In the last two weeks in particular, the analytica team received extremely large numbers of notes from European exhibitors regarding the impracticability of their trade fair participation. Many German exhibitors understandably voiced their concerns that only a small portion of the expected visitors would come to analytica.

“The original decision to postpone the analytica was correct. However, with external conditions having deteriorated sharply recently, reassessment of the situation is inevitable. analytica is the leading international trade fair. Many participants would have been unable to come to Munich because of newly introduced travel restrictions. We are glad that Messe München has reacted flexibly and quickly and in the form of analytica virtual offers the proper concept for 2020,” emphasizes Siegbert Holtermüller, Chairman of analytica’s Exhibitor Advisory Board and Head of Sales Life Sciences at Olympus.

Online trade fair with virtual booths and supporting program

The analytica project team is now working on expanding the analytica virtual format launched in August into a globally visible digital trade fair for the laboratory industry, reflecting as many offers and formats as possible that have been distinguishing analytica in Munich for decades. analytica virtual is being realized in close cooperation with LUMITOS AG.

analytica virtual will be available 24 hours a day in order to enable visitors in all time zones to participate. On virtual exhibition booths, exhibitors will present novel products and product innovations from all areas of laboratory and analytical technology for the target industries of chemistry, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and food. Visitors can experience product presentations, download flyers and contact the respective exhibitor directly via a text, audio and video chat function. In addition, web seminars, specialist lectures and a large part of the supporting program will be available via the platform. Important program items will be repeated at various times of the day.

The highlights will include the globally unique special show Digital Transformation, in which companies and scientists have realized eight workflows to present the state of the art in laboratory automation. The analytica conference will likewise take place in a purely virtual manner in 2020 and can thus maintain its high professional level with international top speakers.

Visitors will participate free of charge.

Exhibitors will benefit from attractive packages.

Statement of the exhibition management September 2020

.                        File:Koelnmesse Logo.svg - Wikimedia Commons

Dear exhibitors, dear visitors,
dear friends and partners of spoga+gafa,
dear colleagues,

Fantastic exhibitor feedback, visitor figures up once again and thus the announcement of the fifth record spoga+gafa in a row. That might well have been probably yesterday, on the third and last day of spoga+gafa 2020; if the world had continued to turn “old-normal”. But it wasn’t to be. The circumstances leading up to the cancellation are known and have been sufficiently discussed. We were prepared, Cologne was ready, and so were many of our exhibitors and visitors.

Today, in early September – and thus in the time that we talked about again and again and made prognoses about during the weeks and months leading up to the cancellation on 6 July – we ask ourselves what would have happened. Would we have had a chance of success, had you been prepared to travel? How many visitors and exhibitors would have come? Conversations with colleagues from other countries – countries in which trade fairs have long been taking place again – have informed us that those events that have taken place have done so successfully for many parties and have all exceeded expectations in terms of their results. The follow-up meetings were concerned less with the quantity than with the quality of those attending, the business that was done and the efficiency of the discussions. The decision-makers for product range, procurement and product came together in a way that exceeded expectations, which makes us glad for those involved and confirms us in our belief that trade fairs are possible, not only in the future but also right now. They are possible when we all come to the dance with the right expectations, for now as then, quality has priority over quantity.

Nonetheless, we still believe that the decision to cancel the 2020 trade fair was correct. We want to say thank you for the feedback, both internal and external, that we received on our way to taking that decision and afterwards, and we are very grateful for it. If the hundreds of discussions held in the last months have accomplished one thing, it’s the mutual trust between us to act as equal partners. We are considering the needs of our green garden lifestyle sector even more than previously in our actions. The discussions that we have held concerning the status, the opportunities for the future and the interests of our exhibitors and visitors from across the segments have brought us to the conclusion that spoga+gafa should now be permanently held at the end of the first half of the year.

The talks and scenarios of recent months and years have shown that June offers a significantly large overlap of the changing needs of suppliers and their target retail market. We have clearly seen that the new date has been well received. The reorientation offers opportunities for everyone, and no one will find it impossible. September has strengths, but June repeats and changes them. In past years the participants often focused on the targets brand building, networking and PR alongside the presentation of products, and these special benefits of spoga+gafa are also available in June. The new date also offers many of the trade fair’s partners the opportunity to present their products to the trade at an earlier point in time. The feedback we are receiving from exhibitors and visitors alike shows that both those customers addressing large-scale retailers and those targeting the specialist trade see outstanding opportunities in the June date. Here we would like to once more make the point that next year’s date at the end of May is a one-time exception. In subsequent years, as far as our trade fair schedule permits, the event will be held in the middle or at the end of June. The discussions that we held prior to the announcement with the respective branches of the specialist trade – be they the furniture customers or, for example, those active in the barbecue segment – have shown that people can live with coming to Cologne as early as the end of May one time. Of course the dates for the following years, in the middle or at the end of June, will subsequently be preferable for our partners.

As far as the exhibitors are concerned, we should not deceive ourselves. Some of our partners will not find it easy to adjust their accustomed product cycle slightly to the new trade fair dates in the first year and to have their products ready for presentation a good two months earlier. The companies affected, however, have made clear in the dialogues concerning the basics of the desired rescheduling that they see the change as manageable and thus regard the early date as the best that could be chosen. If we look at the rebooking numbers, it is clear that all of the halls are not only reacquiring the previous exhibitors but also attracting a significant number of registrations from companies that have not participated in recent years. This is the case for the barbecue and decoration sectors, for example, for Hall 6 with our technology and equipment customers and also, in particular, for the furniture sector. Consequently, in all of our exhibition halls, our motto is “Together, through one May and then happy in June”.

Dear companions of spoga+gafa, yesterday we could not drink a glass of Kölsch beer together at your stand or at one of our parties. But we’ll do it again soon. At the biggest garden lifestyle trade fair in the world. In Cologne. We promise.
Until then, we send you our greetings and wish you all the best in meeting the current challenges.
