Realignment: ISPO Munich and OutDoor by ISPO are permanently moving to a new date

Together with the leading sports and outdoor brands, trade and industry associations, Messe München has made two groundbreaking decisions: With immediate effect, ISPO Munich will take place at the start of the winter season at the end of November, leaving the previous January date. The OutDoor by ISPO advances permanently from the end of June to the end of May/beginning of June.

The permanent postponement of the dates is a strategic decision due to the far-reaching changes in the market in recent years. Industry and trade are faced with major upheavals in the global supply chain, which has changed order cycles. An ISPO Munich, as previously scheduled in January or February, is therefore too late for many industry participants. The permanently brought forward date for OutDoor by ISPO also fits in much better with the new order cycles.

Inspiration and activation at the start of the season: A new ecosystem for industry, trade and consumers

The permanent adjustment of dates gives the leading international trade fairs even more relevance and a completely new meaning as an important source of inspiration for both the entire industry and the end consumer. “In the future, ISPO Munich will not only be a meeting place for the top decision-makers in the industry and the ideal platform for brands to place the most important messages for the market, but also the global kick-off event for the winter season,” says Dittrich. “Here, retailers get an overview of the new products of the season and can then start the order season, decisions with industry-wide implications are made and at the same time consumers are enthusiastic, inspired and activated.”

New dates offer exhibitors and trade visitors concrete advantages

The realignment of ISPO Munich and OutDoor by ISPO has numerous advantages for exhibitors and trade visitors:

  • The dates are now at the beginning of the industry-specific order cycles
  • Exhibitors and trade visitors can now get an earlier market overview every year
  • With a consumer festival at ISPO Munich, end consumers are activated through events and experiences for the coming winter season

“We will take the concepts of ISPO Munich and OutDoor by ISPO to a new dimension,” promises Gröber.

For the best possible effect, the duration of both events will be shortened to three days and a maximum size for stands will be introduced. Currently, a maximum stand size of 150 square meters is planned for OutDoor by ISPO and a maximum of 200 square meters for each exhibiting brand for ISPO Munich.

This decision was made after positive experiences with the IAA MOBILITY, which Gröber was also responsible for. Their duration was also shortened when they moved to Munich and the size of the exhibition stands was limited for the first time.
